DESIGNER SPOTLIGHT: PHILOSOPHY DI LORENZO SERAFINI
Philosophy di Lorenzo Serafini returns to Bernard Boutique, with a nod to the Swinging Sixties, think mini dresses with high necklines, A-line cuts and cute collars. Serafini’s Pre-Fall 2017 Philosophy collection captures the verve of the unmistakable Biba look, only with much finer materials.
Founded in 1984, Philosophy is known for exquisite collections with a feminine sensibility and subtle sensuality, all expertly made in Italy. In 2014, the brand was relaunched under the name sake of its new creative director Lorenzo Serafini, who has previously worked at Dolce & Gabbana and Roberto Cavalli.
Since arriving at Philosophy, the designer has made a signature of reviving past decades and reinventing them into relevant looks. He usually seeks inspiration at the 1970s and 1980s, often with a nod to Brooke Shields, his favourite actress of the era. This season however, he aims his sights to the early 60s – ‘a reaction to our uncertain period; I looked for a more joyful time,’ he explains.
Lorenzo Serafini has brought to Philosophy a new, unique lightness and effortless elegance that perfectly reflect the Italian woman’s sense of dress and attitude. His formula of vintage girlishness has found fans in The Blonde Salad‘s founder Chiara Ferragni, actresses Chloë Moretz and Chloë Sevigny, and most recently, the Duchess of Cambridge.
Explore the Victorian-inspired delicate lace, demure frills and drop-waist dresses imbued with femininity, lightness and sensuality to add an air of demure adventure to your new season wardrobe.
