Grenson was established in 1866 by William Green when he began making shoes by hand in the loft above the Corn Merchants in Rushden, Northamptonshire. In 1874 the business had grown enough to require an increase of production so Mr. Green moved into his first ‘factory’ at Green Yard and was one of the first to use the Goodyear Welted method of shoemaking. Today, apart from the new moccasin collection, all Grenson shoes are ‘Goodyear Welted.’ The method which involves over 200 individual operations and takes up to 8 weeks guarantees that the shoes are strong and last a long time.
